TCYFA Ram’s Halftime Scrimmage
TCYFA has been selected as one of a few leagues that will have the opportunity to scrimmage at a Ram’s halftime during a pre-season game. Just imagine the thrill of actually playing on an NFL field at the Edward Jones Dome!
The Rams paired TCYFA with the Mascoutah Indians. Unfortunately, based on the team we’re scheduled to play, only our 9 year olds will have the opportunity to participate. However, it’s a great opportunity for all of our players to attend a pre-season and a regular season game for the low price of $35 for both tickets. The details known at this time are below.
- 9 year old participation is an option, not a requirement. If interested, you’ll need to complete a form that will be available at tackle registration. Please note that the player must purchase a ticket to the game in order to participate in the scrimmage.
- TCYFA will be provided with 125 sets of tickets to sell at $35 a pair - one ticket for each of two Ram’s games. The first game, where our players will scrimmage, is the Thursday, September 2nd pre-season game against the Baltimore Ravens (7 p.m.). The second game is the Sunday, October 17th regular season game against the San Diego Chargers (12:00 p.m.).
- Each player will receive a Ram’s hat for participating in the event.
There is still a lot of information that we do not know about the event. We do not know the seat locations of the tickets, how we’ll organize a 9 year old team (coaches, uniforms, practices, etc.), or even if we’ll have enough interest to field a team. But it was too good of an opportunity to pass up! We’ll keep you updated as more information is known.
Board Members Needed
2010 will be the last season for several of the current board members. All parents who are interested in running for the 2011 board are encouraged to contact one of the current board members to discuss the positions and responsibilities.
TCYFA is a non-profit organization and its board members are volunteers who work throughout the year to ensure that the business of preparing for the season, communicating information to the parents and coaches, and supporting the activities during the season is conducted in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Although not monetary, the rewards are great – knowing that your contributions helped provide this wonderful service to the community and to the families and players who participate.
In preparation for the turnover, the current board has assembled an operational guide to assist with the various activities. This will provide the new board members with detailed instructions / information concerning all of the activities for a season. This includes information about the individual tasks and events, the TCYFA vendors, and maintenance of the Web and registration database. Don’t worry if you don’t know much about the league. The guide is designed to provide you with the information you will need to succeed.
The work during the off-season is sporadic. You will need to attend a monthly board meeting and you may have various tasks to complete to prepare for the season. During the season, you provide support during the registration, equipment handouts, weigh ins, practices, and games but accommodations are made so that board work does not interfere with the support you provide for your teams and players.

Yearbook Fundraising Raffle
We are planning to create a 2010 full color yearbook for our players and parents. The yearbook will contain team pictures, courtesy of Ernie Goddard (our 2010 photographer), as well as other information about the league. It will include autograph areas that will allow your player to collect memories of the season.
In an effort to raise funds to offset the costs of printing the yearbooks, we will conduct a raffle for two free tackle registrations valued at $190 apiece. The raffle tickets will be limited to only 300 tickets and will sell for $5 per ticket. The tickets will be sold on a first come / first serve basis and there is no limit on the number of tickets you may purchase.
We will begin selling the tickets at the last Flag Football session on May 22nd. The tickets will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crystal City field. Although we may schedule additional dates and times for ticket sales, the remaining tickets will be sold during the free camp that will be held from July 13th to 15th at Sunset Park. The drawing for the two free registrations will take place during the first tackle practice at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20th. If you win and have already registered your player for the season, TCYFA will refund your $190 registration fee.
Please note that board members will be allowed to participate in the raffle - we pay for registration just like all other parents. To ensure a fair drawing, random, non-board member parents that are available before the drawing will certify the tickets and draw the winners.
Please take a chance on the free registrations. The yearbook will be a great keepsake for the kids. Good luck!!!!
