TCYFA Festus Football Night
Just a reminder that this Friday, October 16th, is TCYFA night at the Festus High School football game. Each player that wears their Cougar game jersey to the game will receive free admission. Festus will reserve a seating area for our players and their families. In addition, TCYFA is issuing concession stand vouchers for the players. With the voucher the player will receive a free hot dog, chips, and soda. Please note that all items must be purchased at the same time.
The vouchers were distributed to the coaches that were available during Tuesday night’s practice. If the rain holds off, we’ll distribute to the remaining teams on Thursday (9/10 White and 11/12 Orange). If practice is cancelled and we don’t have the opportunity to give them to the coaches, Robert Bruns will be at the game and will have the vouchers for the players. His photograph, for identification purposes, is on the Web.
Seven Year Plaques
All 12 year olds that have participated in the TCYFA league every year since they were 6 will receive a special plaque at the banquet. We have some player history available but need to confirm our information. If your son meets this criteria, please let us know as soon as possible. We’ll need his name and if possible, the teams he played on during the 7 years.
October 24th - Breast Cancer Awareness Day
TCYFA purchased breast cancer awareness wristbands for the players. Although the boys are encouraged to wear their wristbands for all of the remaining games, our October 24th games will be dedicated to bringing awareness to this disease. The wrist bands are scheduled to be delivered next week and we’ll have them available to the players at practice. Please show your support for this very worthy cause and wear some PINK on October 24th.
Thanksgiving Tournament
TCYFA plans to participate in the Youth Thanksgiving Gridiron Classic football tournament. This tournament is organized by Anonymous Athletes and will be held November 25th through November 29th (www.anonymousathletes.com). All players are welcome to register. Please note the following conditions.
- The cost for each player could be up to $90. This will cover the tournament entry fee, team jerseys, and additional insurance. Final prices will depend on player participation and the actual costs of the jerseys.
- Players are encouraged to use the equipment issued for the regular season. We will establish an additional equipment return date for these players.
- Players will continue to practice at Sunset field for the remainder of November.
- Teams from all over the country participate and the games will be very competitive and physical.
- Players are NOT guaranteed playing time during the games. Your player, even after paying the registration fee, may not see any playing time during any the games.
Please check out the Anonymous Athletes’ web site for more information. Details about the TCYFA teams, coaches, etc. will not be finalized until we have a good count of the number of players interested. If you are interested in participating, please let us know by October 24th.
Playoffs, Super Bowls, and Banquet
The following are the planned dates for the playoff games, Super Bowls, and banquet.
- Playoffs - October 31st
- Super Bowls - November 7th
- Banquet - November 8th
The playoff and Super Bowl schedules will not be known until the week before the games. The playoff teams and the playing venues will be determined by the standings at the end of the season and the Super Bowl games will be determined by the results of the playoffs. Banquet details are still being finalized and we’ll provide you with more information as it becomes available.
Team Pictures
All picture orders have been delivered with the exception of those parents who ordered poster size prints. Ernie Goddard will deliver those on Thursday, October 22nd. Please contact Ernie at coachernie@mac.com if you have any questions or would like to order more prints.
General Pictures
Although we’re not making any promises, we’d like to put together a slide show of the teams and players for the banquet. If you have any pictures you’d like to share, please let us know. We’d appreciate them on a CD or some other media we can keep and work with. We’d also like to have them separated by age groups so we can create individual slide shows for the 5-8 year olds, 9-10 year olds, and 11-12 year olds.
Thanks.
