Let the games begin - almost!
We’re off to a great season. We have 12 teams with a total of 227 players. We’ve completed registration, equipment handout, team assignments, and uniform sizing. There are still a few more important items to complete before the season starts. They include the following.
Tuesday, 08/11 - Cougar T-shirt Orders Due
We are selling Cougar gear for the season. The items include:
- Cotton Short Sleeved T-Shirts - $10
- Cotton Long Sleeved T-Shirts - $12
- Dri Fit Short Sleeved T-Shirts - $15
- Sweatshirts - $20
- Hooded Sweatshirts - $20
- Hats - $20
- Visors - $15
The shirts / sweatshirts will coincide with the color of your team’s uniform jersey. The front of the shirts will contain the cougar logo for the league and you have the option of having your player number(s) on the back of the shirt. The hats and visors are offered with a white hat / black brim or solid black. The logo will be stitched on the front of the hat and “Cougars” will be on the back. All shirts are offered in Youth and Adult sizes with the exception of the Dri Fit T-shirts. They are only offered in Adult sizes. The hat sizes offered are XS/S, S/M, M/L, and L/XL. Please note that $2 will be added to the price of the shirts for the larger sizes. For example, a 2XL t-shirt will be $12, a 3XL will be $14, and a 4XL is $16.
Your Team Mom has the order form. You must have your order completed and paid for by the end of practice on Tuesday, 08/11, in order to receive your apparel by the first game (08/29). We may place a subsequent order but the items will not be available until later games. As with registration, cash or checks are accepted. Check should be made payable to TCYFA.
Saturday, 08/15 - Festus Weigh In
Each player must weigh in before they are allowed to participate in the games. The TCYFA weigh in will be held on Saturday, 08/15, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Festus Elementary School cafeteria. Each team will have an assigned time and each player must be accompanied by their coach. Coaches will notify the players of the time and place to meet prior to the weigh in. If you cannot attend this weigh in, you must work with your coach to attend the DeSoto weigh in scheduled for Wednesday night, 08/19. That will be your last opportunity to weigh your player and your coach must make arrangements to accompany you to the weigh in.
Each player must supply a birth certificate or a passport for age verification. All other player information, including pictures, is already stored in our registration database.
Uniforms
All of uniform pants and socks have been delivered to the teams. The jerseys are at the printer and are being delivered to the teams as they are completed. It is very important that you try on the uniform as soon as you receive it. If there are any problems, please contact Staci Templeton at the practices or via e-mail through the Web site (www.mytcyfa.org). We will correct the problems but we need as much time as possible if your players are to have the uniform by the Jamboree.
Saturday, 08/22 - Jamboree
The Jamboree is an opening day celebration for our teams. Activities will take place at the Crystal City field from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. We’ll post the schedule for the various teams and activities next week. The activities include:
Team Pictures
Picture package information will be distributed shortly. There will be a team picture and individual player pictures. Each player should have their order form completed, including payment, and be in full uniform for the pictures. Please note that we will be taking individual pictures for all players even if there are no plans to order the prints.
Inter-division Scrimmages
The individual teams in a division will scrimmage against each other. Each team is scheduled to play 20 minutes on offense and 20 minutes on defense. Your coaches will provide you with specific details concerning warm ups, etc. prior to the scrimmages.
Raffle Drawing
We’ll draw the raffle winners at noon. All raffle tickets must be turned in by 11:00 a.m. We’ll have a bin at the practices for early drop off.
Lots of food and fun!
The concession stand will be open. We will need volunteers for the concession stand duties so please contact us if you are available. The time slots will be included in the day’s schedule.
Additional Items
- For safety reasons all parents and / or guardians must be present during the practices. The coaches and the league cannot assume the responsibility for the player for items as simple as bathroom breaks or as serious as injuries.
- The Web site has been updated with the teams and players. We’ll update the game schedules as soon as the information is available (week of 08/24).
- Grandview will not compete in the league.
All of the volunteers on the board want to thank you for your cooperation and patience during registration and equipment handouts. We implemented quite a few changes to accommodate the new equipment and the two week earlier season start. Please continue to let us know if you have any suggestions for improvement. For example, we’ve already been asked to include additional information on the back of the registration receipt concerning the need to purchase practice jerseys and pants. This was an excellent suggestion and the form will be updated for next season. We want to make this a pleasant experience for the players and the parents and are open to all ideas that will help us accomplish this.
