We’re excited - the season is just a little over a month away!

Below are some important dates and activities for the season. 

June 27th – Punt, Pass and Kick Competition

Plan to attend the Festus Fireworks Extravaganza (West City Park) and our Punt, Pass and Kick competition.  Kids from 5 to 12 can compete in the activity and TCYFA will present awards to the top three contestants in each of the four age brackets (5/6, 7/8, 9/10, and 11/12).  Distance and accuracy are the keys to winning the competition.  You can also register for the season and avoid the lines at the camp.

July 14th, 15th, and 16th - Free Football Camp

Camp will be held at Sunset Park from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Coaches will be available to assist and evaluate the players in drills and exercises.  The camp is non-contact (no pads). 

During camp, parents can register the players for the season.  The cost per player is $190 (cash or check).  Discounts are available for siblings that are also enrolled.  The second family member is $170 and any additional family members are $150.  The cost includes the practices, games, uniform, equipment loan, banquet, and awards for the players.

Practices will begin the following week.  Practices are generally held at Sunset Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Please note that a player cannot attend the practices unless he / she has been registered for the season.  The last day for registration will be Thursday, July 30th. 

July 18th, 22nd, and 25th - Equipment Handout

Registered players will be sized for equipment on the two Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  At this time we plan to distribute the equipment at Sunset Park.  We’ll notify you if that changes.

The players will need the equipment for the practices beginning Tuesday, July 28th.

We’ve purchased over $10,000 of new helmets and shoulder pads this year.  To protect your investment in TCYFA, we will require a $100 per player equipment deposit.  The deposit should be a check made out to TCYFA.  We will NOT cash the checks unless the equipment is not returned or is returned in poor condition.  Please note that we will provide the new Cougar logo stickers for the helmets - no other stickers or markings are allowed on the helmet or pads.

August 1st to 4th - Team Announcements

The drafts for the teams will take place after the Thursday practice and before the Tuesday practice.  Your coach will contact you with your team information.

August 15th - Festus Weigh In

All players must attend a weigh in or they will not be eligible to play in any of the team’s games.  The player’s birth certificate is required for the weigh in.  It is highly recommended that you attend the Festus weigh in with your team.  We will notify you of the team weigh in schedule at a future date.  If you cannot attend at Festus, please work with your coach to select one of the alternate weigh in locations.  Arnold’s weigh in will be held on Saturday, August 8th and DeSoto’s weigh in will be held on Wednesday, August 19th. 

August 22nd - TCYFA Cougar Jamboree

We’re celebrating the new Cougar teams with TCYFA Opening Day festivities at the Crystal City field.  The jamboree will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  There will be plenty of food and fun for the family.  The player activities will include scrimmages against the other TCYFA teams in the division, team pictures, and football drill competitions.  We’ll also draw the 2009 raffle winners at the Jamboree. 

August 29th - First Game

The games are starting a couple of weeks earlier this year.  We’ll play the first game on August 29th, skip September 5th (Labor Day weekend) and resume the games on September 12th.  Games, including the playoffs and Super Bowl, are scheduled to conclude in early November.  We’ll be working to get your team’s schedule to you as soon as possible.
